make a difference with almond breeze

I wanted to dedicate this short post to highlight the Almond Breeze Taste and Make a Difference Program! As a Foodbuzz tastemaker I was chosen to feature a widget (on the right hand side) where you, my readers, have the option to make a difference by telling Almond Breeze how to divide $25K between five charitable organizations!  Yes, that’s $25,000 DOLLARS!

As many of you know I recently completed my first century bike ride to benefit to LIVESTRONG which was an absolutely amazing experience.  Because I have a strong passion for this great organization, I wanted to represent this charity in the challenge.  I know Lance isn’t doing too hot in the Tour de France at the moment, and probably won’t win the Tour this year, but let’s send him off with a great donation for a great cause to help in the fight against cancer.  Who’s with me???

All you have to do to help support LIVESTRONG is just one click on the right!

simple sunday supper

After the culmination of the weekend was coming to a close, Chris and I decided to do something not so conventional for us on a Sunday evening . . . we cracked open a bottle of wine and rented a movie!!  Usually we spend Sunday night getting things situated for the week and try to get to bed somewhat early so we’re not walking zombies on Monday.  Because our weekend was pretty packed with bike rides, swim lessons, visiting with in-laws and friends, homework, and business brainstorming, I felt like taking it easy.   (more…)

a bad blogger who started swimming

I’ve been a bad, bad blogger lately, but some things have come up recently that must be a priority for my future 🙂  Most of the past week Chris and I have been coming up with random lunch and dinner selections since I didn’t get a chance to get to the grocery store.  I won’t spare you the details and frankly I forgot to take pictures eek!  I feel like pretty soon, my head with sure spin off and fly away somewhere never to be seen again!  Has anyone seen my brain?   (more…)

back into the swing of things

Man it is tough coming back after having such a nice vacay!  CSN Stores contacted me recently and asked if I would like to do a review of one of their products, which may just make the transition to reality a little easier 🙂  I’m not sure what it will be yet, maybe it will be a sectional sofa?!  Well, not sure about that, but we sure need a new sofa.  Ours is ancient and we have to reinforce it underneath with a broken down cardboard box.  No joke.  It’s like once you sit in it, you can’t get up because you sink so far into it. literally.  Look out for a review soon, hopefully it will be something fun!   (more…)

i think i’m in love

Well, certainly not that kind of love, but you know that feeling of awe and sheer admiration for another person?  That feeling of excitement that makes you shaky and speechless? . . . Monday was pretty much the same ol’ same ol’ for me, except I got to meet Giada DeLaurentiis!!!!!!  I’m sure all of you well know who she is and shame on you if you don’t!  She is pretty much my idol and I adore her sense of style, amicable nature and of course delicious and elegant cooking.   (more…)

giveaway time!

I’m excited to announce another giveaway on eatingRD!  I was contacted by CSN stores and asked if I would like to review a product or do a giveaway.  I wanted to spread the love with a little giveaway and took it a step further by also letting you choose!  Yay!

*this giveaway is now closed, but check back for more!*

Perusing their ginormous site, which features thousands of cooking gadgets from over 200 stores, and even some pretty neat barstools, I was in sheer delight trying to make my decision.  It was tough, but I decided on 5 items that I think you guys will enjoy!  They even have several VitaMix babies, but that was a little high on the budget 🙂   (more…)

Sunday Funday

Boy, Sunday just flew by and was packed with a lot of food!!  Hope you had a nice Super Bowl and/or Sunday.  I wasn’t really rooting for anyone in particular and only watched maybe the last part of the game (the most thrilling part!), but it was kind of nice to see the underdog win.  Sorry Colts fans!

The day started out really nice with a casual and easy breakfast of (more…)

eat in month reflections

As you know, Chris and I embarked on the challenge to eat in for the entire month of January and I honestly can’t believe it’s over!  It was hosted by the lovely Diana, who always has some great challenge ideas (I think she’s brewing up a new fitness related challenge).  Now it is the moment of truth, and I’d like to share with you my thoughts and reflections over the month.  And yes, there were a few, just a few ‘cheats’ in there too!

The main reason I wanted to share this with you is (more…)

new training products + other goodies

The other day I finally made the purchase of some gadgets to help assist me with my training to hopefully increase my running and cycling potential.  Nothing like that instant performance feedback!  I’ve seen that many of you cannot live without your Garmins and I couldn’t help when I saw that Amazon had the Garmin 305 on sale for 48% off!  I’m a sucker for a sale, well I really don’t buy most things unless they are on sale, and I’ve been searching different brands/models for awhile now. . .
