Because we don’t get much snow here in Vegas, but every hundred years, we have to go out of town to higher elevation to romp and play in the snow. Our friends invited us to the Winter Festival at Ruby’s Inn in Bryce Canyon this year and it was a lot of fun! They have a full schedule of events and there are plenty of fun winter activities.
We got up fairly early on Saturday and made our way to Bryce Canyon. It’s only a 4 hour drive away from Vegas which isn’t bad at all.
We stayed at Ruby’s Inn and they have nice accommodations, including a mini fridge and microwave in the rooms. I made up a batch of potato chard soup, energy bars, chocolate chip cookies and other snacks to hold us over and save a little money.
It was sure gorgeous up there! The weather was actually pretty warm during the day when the sun was out. Once that sun went down though it was sure chilly! Glad we brought all of our winter gear
On Sunday we went for a 3-hour cross country ski. This was my first time cross country skiing and it took me a little while to get the hang of it. I was also really sloooow. Everyone had to wait up for me
For the most part we stayed on groomed trails, but decided to go off the beaten path around the rim of Bryce to get in some great views. I had a few good falls on my bum since there were a few rolling hills and had to take my skis off and walk a few times
The views were sure breathtaking!
I was soooo tired after this and had a nice long nap when we got back to the room
I didn’t get in any snow shoeing but we did do a little bit of walking around the Inn and drove around the park to the view points.
Definitely going to have to do this trip again for sure!
What’s your favorite winter activity or place to visit?
