healthier holiday gift guide

by Kristen :) on December 16, 2012

Christmas is just around the corner and I am procrastinating as usual with all the usual tasks that need to be completed.  I swear next year I am putting a reminder on my calendar to start this stuff in November, ha!  We actually do have some decorations up this year.

I still have some cards to address and gifts to send, but hopefully I will get a majority of it finished this weekend.  Have you completed all the items on your holiday list this year yet?  In case you are still scrambling for some gift ideas, here are just a few healthier options that are sure to please those foodies and health nuts on your list.

Pumpkin Seed Oil

This stuff is so incredibly delicious and full of nutrition.  It’s very nutty; perfect for salads and other cold applications.

Bija Rooibos Chai Tea

This tea is out of this world delicious and full of warm spices.  Tastes better than any other tea I’ve had from a bag for sure.

Non-Toxic Skincare from 100% Pure

They have a lot of nice skincare products that aren’t loaded with toxic chemicals.  I particularly like the lemon and verbena foaming hand wash.  They have a bunch of nice gift sets too.

Immersion Blender

Can’t go wrong with one of these in the winter for making lots of comforting soups :)  I love all the color options!

 Superfood Power Snacks

These power snacks from Navitas Naturals are great for on the go.  I like to munch on a few when I want something chocolate-y with healthier ingredients.  I’m going to try making these at home :)

The Chocolate Drink Mix from Essential Living Foods is also another delicious addition to morning green smoothies for a superfood boost.

Homemade Gifts

If you are looking to make some easy homemade goodies for friends and family, this Cinnamon Bun Granola and Maple Nut Bark is absolutely delicious!  I made the granola in our dehydrator and it really is addictive.  I would almost call it crack-anola.  Maple syrup just makes everything better :)

It has a fantastic texture after 10 hours in the dehydrator.  Nice and crunchy like I like it!

For the bark, we used a mix of slivered almonds, pumpkin seeds and some walnuts.

Simple and delicious.

If you are looking for something alcoholic, why not try making your own wine?!  ;)

My friend and I finished bottling our wine baby at U Bottle It and now it will be ready for gifting next Christmas.  I can’t wait to try it!

Christmas Eve Menu

We are going to be hosting a Christmas Eve feast for 10 this year.  Hopefully we can all fit in our place!  Here’s what’s going to be on our mostly vegan menu…

Vegan Nog and Water Kefir (probably a little vino too!)

Potato and Kale Soup (Veganomicon)

Mixed Greens with Pom Arils and Walnuts with a Pumpkin Seed Oil Vinaigrette

Fermented Pineapple Cranberry Chutney

Creamed Chard

Gluten-Free Stuffing

Stuffed Portabella Mushrooms (with GF stuffing)

Organic Beef Roast with Gravy (for the meat eaters)

Raw Lemon Raspberry Tart with Coconut Whipped Cream

Happy Holidays from the world’s happiest reindeer!  :)  I hope everyone has a fabulous holiday season whatever you celebrate!

What is everyone making or looking forward to eating this holiday season?

What a great list! I’m bookmarking this for next year – I know Peter would love that pumpkin seed oil (and I wouldn’t mind having it around either ;) ). Your dehydrator granola looks delicious! We actually have a dehydrator so I’d like to try it!

Enjoy your holidays, Kristen! :)

I really want to try some pumpkin oil. I have also seen a lot of avocado oil around. Looks like a great menu you had planned for Christmas. Hope everything turned out nicely and you had fun.

I am truley impressed with that menu! I have no doubt it turned out as delish as it sounds! Creamed chard, raw pumpkin pie, coconut whipped topping? Seriously, WOW! My Christmas making meal was very non eventful, which is kind of cool for a change! I need to put a dehydrator on my list at some point. Happy New Year to you!!!
