elixir organic cafe

by Kristen :) on March 1, 2012

I had a great meet up with one of my bestest pals and we got to try a new place called Elixir Organic Cafe that serves some fresh organic grub.  This place is a keeper!

I usually watch Groupon and Living Social deals like a hawk.  Anyone else?  It makes trying new places a little less intimidating.  If things don’t turn out so well you don’t end up wasting too much extra moola, and if it does turn out well, you have another yummy restaurant to visit!  I had a Living Social deal for Elixir Organic Cafe and thought this would be a great place to try with my fellow dietitian buddy Kristen :)

After looking over the menu I knew that I wanted to try one of their green juices.  I’ve been into things like this lately because they are packed with nutrition and are a very refreshing way to get your greens.

I chose the Green Delight (12-oz)

Romaine, kale, spinach, celery, mint and apple

It was delicious!

For the main meal I couldn’t decide between a grass-fed beef burger or a grilled tofu wrap.  These are two very different tastes, but I decided to go with the grilled tofu wrap with balsamic vinaigrette in a sun-dried tomato wrap.  They have many different choices for sauces and wrappage, including gluten-free options.

This was really tasty as well.  I liked that it wasn’t huge and had lots of veggies packed in there.  It even contained dried cranberries and walnuts which gave it some great chew and crunch.  I love lots of different textures in my meals.

Kristen got a grilled portabella sammie and she was nice enough to let me have a taste. mmmm  A lot of people don’t like sharing their food, but not me, I am a big fan of sharing :)

With the coupon we also could choose any dessert item.  You know me, I can’t really turn down a little sweetness after dinner, so we decided to try the vegan carrot cake.  They also have gluten-free and lower calorie options for desserts too.

Yum!  I liked it because it wasn’t overly sweet.  Some carrot cakes are just way too sweet for my taste.  This one was perfect highlighting the subtle sweetness of the carrots.

It was great catching up with Kristen!  Never seem to have enough girl time that is for sure.

I will definitely be coming back to Elixir Organic Cafe.  Everything on the menu sounded wonderful and the salad at the table next to ours looked fab too.

Have you tried any new restaurants lately? Do you like sharing your food?

I think I just read the same thing on Swanky’s blog! :) Great to have good friends to share with…YES, I do like to share!!!
I have a list of restaurants to try on my blog. I don’t go out very often so when I do, I like to make it count be going somewhere local that features fresh products. This looks like something that would be right up my alley too. How awesome does that cupcake look??? YUM!
