bridal shower blessings

Hi there!  Boy has time been flying around here!  Can someone please tell me how it is almost the end of July?!  I certainly can’t believe that our wedding is in about 5 weeks.  We still have lots to get done of course, but hopefully will be able to get ‘er done and paid for.  My Maid of Honor Kristen threw me the most wonderful bridal shower this past weekend and I was so happy and felt so loved!

Upon arrival guests had some signing in to do.  On the right is a guest book which is made from a rolling pin and then guests sign their names on the tags attached to it.  Such a neat idea!  Kristen says it’s one of their family traditions 🙂

Guests also could leave some advice for Chris and I inside the wine bottle to be opened on our 1 year anniversary 🙂

So freakin’ cute!

The afternoon started out with some delicious appetizers made by Kristen’s mom who is such a wonderful hostess and chef!  She always has such great things to eat!

Sunflowers and cupcakes.  What could be better?

Dark chocolate shower pops.

This sangria is both delicious and dangerous!

love love love … every time I see sunflowers I smile 🙂

Cute little parasol pins that Kristen’s grandmother made for us.

Appetizers included cheese stuffed veggies, cheese and cracker platter, delicious caprese salad, and a salad bar.  Yum!

This girl is also a huge fan of any kind of baked pasta and this was the real deal baked ziti.  We also had garlic bread and meatballs simmered in a hearty red sauce.  I was in heaven.

After I was stuffed to my heart’s content, we played some fun shower games including ‘bridal shower word scramble’ and ‘how well do you know the bride?’  They were fun!  I don’t think any one guessed that my favorite movie is ‘Dumb and Dumber’. hehe

And then it was time for gifts!

I received so many special gifts!

Kristen’s grandma made me a garter!  How cute!

Some cute lingerie… oooh la la

This little guy is my friend’s new precious baby boy!  He was such a doll and slept most of the shower 🙂

Kristen got me a guide book to Europe with a journal for our honeymoon coming up in November 🙂

Honeymoon spending money is always nice 😉

I got some wonderful gifts including a gorgeous sculpture and some flavored balsamic vinegar and olive oil that I can’t wait to try!

Kristen also got wine cork favors for everyone to take home!

I am so glad to have shared this day with everyone…I love my friends!

Love this girl!  She really went over the top.  I was beaming from ear to ear the entire party and feel so thankful and blessed for amazing friends and such a nice bridal shower.

The wedding is just 5 weeks away now and the planning is kicking into higher gear.  Hopefully I won’t go too insane 🙂  I still have a lot of the little details to figure out, along with some frugal decorating ideas.

I have still been cycling and am fully healed from my little bike crash . . .  aaaaand still working on my thesis to hopefully defend by the end of October.

Chris has been ambitious in the kitchen lately making fresh pasta and breads 🙂  This girl loves a man that can cook and bake.

Buster doo is doing good . . . you know the usual walking, eating and napping all day 🙂  He’s such a cutie with his little short legs

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week!  I got today started with some hill intervals 🙂

What are you thankful for?
